Chris Moller may have stepped down as chair from the meetings. However, did that stop him from pulling the strings from behind the scenes. He could have easily asked his deputy to take care of his interests while he is "officially" not present in the discussions.

I hope that people don't think that Chris Moller has promised that the flyover bridge will be screened by a new "donated" grandstand so we can all forget about its impact on the cricket ground.

There is no space between the footpath and the boundary fence at the north end for anything much bigger than that ugly toilet block. And they have promised not to cut down the trees on the bank at the corner. So the only area available would accommodate a funny triangular extension of the existing stand towards the gate. That is what has been shown on NZTA's plans.

The new stand would do next to nothing in terms of hiding the bridge. And judging by the turnout for the Firebirds in recent weeks, it is hardly needed to accommodate the crowds. It would be better if taxpayers' money was put towards reducing the deficit instead.
