Long delays for southbound traffic on State Highway One at Porirua were reported this morning by the NZ Transport Agency.

A crash was blocking the southbound left lane between Whitford Brown and the Mungavin Interchange.

Only one southbound lane remained open. The Transport Agency told drivers to take an alternative route.

The crash was first reported about 8.30. The lane reopened at 10am. Delays continued.

Then more delays were reported – the southbound lane on SH1 between Waikanae and PekaPeka was blocked by another crash. Take care, advised the Transport Agency. The road was cleared by midday.

There were delays for four hours on State Highway 2 in the area of Fergusson Drive this morning, after a digger rolled off a truck and on to the road.

Till about 12.45, access to Fergusson Drive from SH2 was closed; the left southbound lane of SH2 was also closed while a crane worked to remove the digger.

Southbound vehicles on the highway were being stopped for five minute intervals, while the vehicle removal took place.

Silverstream traffic was being diverted via Whakatiki Street and Gibbons street.
