Power cut in Greytown after car crashes into power pole; occupant trapped

Police on patrol came across a traffic crash on Main Street in Greytown last night.

A vehicle had collided with a power pole and the sole occupant was trapped.

All three Emergency services attended, including Ambulance, Fire and Police.

As a result of the crash, power to some houses in Greytown was cut.

The Wellington District Serious Crash Unit was called to investigate the crash.

There were traffic diversions around East Street, with traffic being diverted down Church Street and Papawai Road. The road was closed for several hours, whilst the power pole was secured and the investigation was completed.

The Westpac Helicopter was called to take the occupant of the vehicle to hospital.
