Afternoon quake slows trains

A moderate earthquake was felt throughout Wellington this afternoon.

GeoNet reports that it occurred at 2.42pm and was centred 30km north-east of Seddon at a depth of 17km.

Commuter trains were delayed because of the quake.

Seventy-six people told GeoNet that the quake had been strong, and 611 said it was moderate. 1776 people put it in the light category and 965 said it was weak.
