Prison escaper back in jail – arrested in Featherston

Police have located the 38-year-old man who escaped from custody at Hutt Hospital on Monday.

Police have been conducting extensive enquiries to find him.

He was located at an address in Featherston last night and arrested without incident.

He will be charged with escaping custody and has been returned to prison.

Hutt Valley Police are appealing for the public’s help to locate Donald Keepa who has a warrant for his arrest. The 38-year-old is wanted for escaping custody after an incident at Hutt Hospital this morning.

He was last seen in Avalon near Kennedy Good Bridge and State Highway 2.

Keepa is 172cm tall, medium build, with distinctive tattoos on his neck.

Police are actively searching for him but are asking that the public report any sightings of him or information on his whereabouts.

Keepa is not considered dangerous to the general public however he should not be approached and anyone who sees him should contact Police on 111.
