There’s been congestion on State Highway 1 this afternoon since a truck and trailer unit with a digger on board rolled at the Paremata roundabout.
The accident happened about 2.20pm and blocked the left northbound lane.
At 4pm, the Transport Agency reported delays of more than 25 minutes for northbound traffic.
At 4.30, the Transport Agency said congestion extended back through Porirua to the Mungavin interchange.
At 4.40, a tow-truck with a crane on it arrived to remove the truck and trailer and there were further delays.
However at 5.50 both lanes were reopened and congestion began to ease. NZTA said congestion had eased by 6.20, and the road was fully clear at 7.25pm.
NZTA said there were no delays from Pukerua Bay to Paekakariki as a result of this crash.
