Wry,’dry, post-modern irony’ indeed but sadly, the joke’s on us.

Very well put. Looking forward to Dave the-cat-Cull’s reply. No doubt it will be so chocker with that typical Southern man self-deprecation and irony, you won’t get the punchline till the next wet Monday morning about 8am.

Point noted TrevorH, it appears the remit on ‘Cat control’ which Dunedin City Council presented to the 2017 LGNZ AGM which LGNZ then voted in favor of and forwarded to central government could well be a factor in Dave Cull obtaining the LGNZ presidency. ‘Cat control’ is one of the main policies LGNZ is encouraging councils to engage in. LGNZ principal policy adviser Mike Reid is one of the three LGNZ representatives involved with the National Cat Management Strategy Group which also includes Morgan Foundation GM and TOP Party leader Geoff Simmons. NCMSG seeks compulsory microchipping of all domestic Cats along with the execution of all Cats which can be trapped and do not return an ID when scanned. They want it done by 2025.

Guyon Espiner’s audio interview with a very evasive Dave Cull is essential listening for anyone with an interest in the unjustified demonisation of New Zealand’s Cats.

To some degree you’ve got to admire Daran Ponter for standing in (all the time?) for his lost-in-action Chair. Daran faces all the media questions and interviews and whether you like what he’s saying or not, at least he’s got the balls. By the way, who is Barbara Donaldson?
