Art auction tonight to raise money for national music centre

Victoria University of Wellington and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra present an Art Auction to raise funds for the national music centre.

The auction will be on Thursday from 5:30pm to 8:30pm in the Grand Dining Room, Wellesley Boutique Hotel
2–8 Maginnity Street.

The works will be on display the week of the Auction at the Wellesley Boutique Hotel (ground floor):
Tuesday 11 September, 10am–5pm
Wednesday 12 September, 10am–5pm
Thursday 13 September, 10am–2pm

Drinks and refreshments will be available from 5.30pm. The auction will commence at 6.45pm.

The national music centre is planned to be established in central Wellington, with the Wellington Town Hall at its heart. The national music centre will provide a home for Victoria University’s New Zealand School of Music and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and is intended to be a vibrant community facility that will support public engagement, civic events and cultural diversity throughout Wellington and beyond. It will offer the public far greater access to music and the arts than ever before, with lunchtime concerts, public lectures, workshops, seminars and art displays.

The Art Auction (view catalogue here) will assist the fundraising efforts for the music centre.

Kindly supported by Dunbar Sloane Ltd, the Auction will include 30 works from key New Zealand artists.
