Armed man steals money and cigarettes from Porirua store

Police are appealing for information about this man following an aggravated robbery at a convenience store on Corinna Street, Porirua.

Shortly before 8pm on Thursday 6 September, a man with a firearm demanded money and cigarettes from staff at the Corinna Superette before fleeing on foot.

The offender was wearing a brown t-shirt over top of a white hooded jersey or vest with three black stripes on the back, and a red long sleeved top underneath. He was wearing jeans that were ripped at the knees, and red Chuck Taylor boots. Tattoos were visible on his left hand index finger and thumb.

No one was injured.

    Terrible stuff, to increase the value of tobacco by adding tax (in an economic contraction) so those addicted to it can’t afford it. The govt must have had an inkling that they would increase this sort of desperate behavior, robbing convenience stores by poor tobacco addicts. But it’s ok because the Crown makes us buy nicotine patches and (carcinogenic) gum (not safe or effective).
