Inner City Wellington held its annual Founders’ Day event last night, marking ten years since it was established as the Inner City Residents and Business Association. (It changed its name last year.)

Minister of Finance and local MP Grant Robertson, who co-founded the organisation ten years ago, gave an opening speech.

Inner city resident Keith Quinn was the guest speaker, recalling his life in Wellington, and remembering that he’d first started commentating on sports events when he was 7 years old.

After the speech, Archdeacon Stephen King of St Peter’s Church presented Keith with a certificate confirming that his speech had been the second Nicholson Memorial Lecture.

And there was a raffle – Mayor Justin Lester presented the prize to Rex Nicholls.

ICW signed a co-operative agreement with its neighbour the Flagstaff Hill Residents Association.

Flowers were presented to deputy president Geraldine Murphy who is leaving the committee after ten years.
