Tawa flies flags to celebrate vibrant community

Press Release – Tawa Business Group

After nearly two years in development, the community of Tawa has unveiled a new addition to its streets that promotes local spirit and the vibrant community itself.

Tawa Business Group, Tawa Residents Association, and Tawa Community Board dreamed up the project to highlight the community of Tawa, and engaged the entire community to take the project from design to completion. After nearly two years in development, the logo to represent the community was finished and ready for installation on power pole flags.

It was crucial for the Tawa community that local talent was used to design, create, and install the flags across the suburb. The 43 flags were produced by Nexus Display Solutions Grenada, with Power Construction and Lighting Limited collaborating to handle the installation.

Local Tawa graphic design firm, Digital Tree, handled the creative design aspect, with Dieter Fourie taking lead on the ambitious and inclusive project. A grant application was also made to Wellington City Council, who kindly contributed $17,000 toward the cost of the project.

Individuals who made a notable contribution to the project include Stephanie Knight and Stacey Richardson of the Tawa Residents Association, Judith Gray, Ann Woolston, and Tony Henderson-Newport of the Tawa Business Group, and Richard Herbert and Liz Langham of Tawa Community Board.

Tawa Business Group are proud to announce the raising of the 43 flags, spanning the Tawa business area where the flags will be visible for anyone to see.
