Thanks Don Gilling for this disturbing analysis. It also raises the question of why DIA are managing the NALI review, when they have such a fiscal stake in the outcome. Isn’t there a conflict of interest?
DIA are evidently unfit to be in control of the National Library and the Turnbull Library.
Heads should roll. Who is the current Minister of Internal Affairs? And who was the last Gov’s Minister of IA at the time these decisions were made?
I’ve always thought that IA was a weak and somewhat pathetic department – not sure why that should be, but they always appear to be dragging the chain. New blood needed. Off with their heads, and on with some fresh faces!
I’m appalled, sad and angry, to name a few of the emotions that have surfaced as I read this. I hope the audience for this article includes the PM, the Minister In Charge and the Auditor-General, as well as the previous Minister who should be ashamed that things have fallen to this level.
