{Suite} begins its exhibition programme for 2019 with Toyland (Again), by senior artist Ans Westra. Shot in 2004, Toy-Land looks at the souvenir market and how we portray ourselves as New Zealanders to the world.

“I started looking at the souvenir market, how we portray ourselves to the world, collecting things people sell for souvenirs. It is representation in a more playful way”, Ans said.

Presented as large scale glossy photos, the images once again show Ans’ remarkable ability to make the ordinary look extraordinary.

A breakfast opening with Ans will take place 30 January, 8.00am – 9.30am
