Car on tracks stops trains on Johnsonville line

Report from RNZ
Some train services on the Johnsonville Line in Wellington were suspended late this afternoon after a car drove on to the tracks at Khandallah station.

Metlink said all services on the Johnsonville Line were suspended between Ngaio and Johnsonville due to a track obstruction at Khandallah. The police are investigating.

Photos on social media show a vehicle which appears to have either rolled or driven over the platform and on to the rails.

Trains between Ngaio and Johnsonville were replaced by buses till the car was moved.

The DomPost reports that the SUV was accidentally driven off the platform, and was moved from the tracks at 8:54pm. A police spokeswoman said there were two occupants in the vehicle and both were unharmed.
