Wellington.Scoop – February 9
A fire broke out on the hills above the Wellington suburb of Wadestown this afternoon.

Mount Cook resident and RNZ editor Paddy Burgin said it was a large bush fire on the northern slopes of the hills between Thorndon and Wadestown. It was sending smoke billowing across the central city.

He said he thought it was a vegetation fire. And completely in the face of the northerly wind.
