Te Matatini championships to showcase NZ

Press Release – Maori Television
Māori Television is to exclusively provide all the action, live from the national kapa haka championships, Te Matatini Ki Te Ao 2019.

From February 21-24, 46 ropu (groups) from around Aotearoa and Australia will take the stage at Westpac Stadium in Wellington to compete for the championship title of Toa Whakaiuwaka.

Māori Television will take you inside the event with comprehensive coverage of all performances live and on demand at www.maoritelevision.com [1].

Join presenters Mātai Smith, Chey Milne and Kahurangi Maxwell on the ground as they comment on all the action as it happens, and check in online for minute-by-minute updates.

The prestigious kapa haka event is expected to attract more than 60,000 spectators this year and Māori Television will be there for it all.

The official theme of the 2019 festival is ‘Te Matatini ki te Ao’, meaning ‘Te Matatini to the world’, and fittingly this year’s broadcast will also be available to viewers in Australia and America.

English translations will be available via live stream for the entire event and the finals on Sunday, February 24 will also be translated into Mandarin.
