Woman in hospital after being shot in Masterton street

Masterton Police are appealing for information following the shooting of a 35-year-old Masterton woman who was walking on Clyde Street at about 2.50am yesterday.

The woman was driven to Masterton hospital by a local resident, and is in a stable condition having undergone surgery.

Detective Sergeant Bill Van Woerkom says Police have spoken to the victim and a number of residents in the area.

“Someone in our community will know who is responsible,” he says. “We believe this was an isolated incident and wish to reassure the community they are not in danger.
