Power outage delays trains on all three lines

Wellington.Scoop
There were delays to trains on the Hutt Valley, Kapiti and Johnsonville Lines this morning because of a power outage between Wellington and Kaiwharawhara.

Some services were cancelled.

Services didn’t return to normal till 2.30, when Metlink thanked travellers for their patience.

For all the patient (tolerant?) travellers on the Kapiti line, it was the second day of delays.

Wellington.Scoop – June 14
Train services on the Kapiti Line were suspended for 30 minutes this afternoon after police closed the line between Redwood and Porirua. Metlink said there had been an “incident.” There was no explanation from the police.

When services resumed at 3.40pm, Metlink said three services had been cancelled, and there would be delays of up to 35 minutes. At 4.25, there were still delays of up to 20 minutes. Normal timetabled services didn’t resume till after 5pm.

It was the second time today that trains on the Kapiti line had been delayed.

Morning delays – up to 40 minutes – were caused by a signal fault, which also caused some cancellations.
