Three of the Labour Weekend’s six road deaths have been reported in the Wellington region.
Last night one person died after a crash in Tokomaru in the Horowhenua.
The crash, involving two vehicles, occurred at the intersection of Makerua Road and Williams Road at around 11.30pm.
Police said the driver of one vehicle died at the scene.
A passenger in the second vehicle suffered moderate injuries.

A motorcyclist has died after a crash with a vehicle on SH2 at Timberlea in Upper Hutt.
Emergency services were called just after 5pm.
Motorists were asked to avoid the area or expect delays.

Also today, a person died following a crash between a truck and a car on State Highway 3 at Kai Iwi near Whanganui.
The crash happened outside Kai Iwi School just after 12.30pm.
Earlier in the day there was a crash on Shelley Bay Road in Wellington. The road was closed till the vehicle was removed from the sea at Shark Bay.
One person was taken to hospital in a serious condition.
Two other people in the vehicle sustained minor injuries.
