Wellington dancer returns from Ireland with new work

Sascha Perfect in Chimera by Lisa Kohler

Press Release – Sascha Perfect
“A prophetic fantasy set within a post apocalyptic landscape.”
Sascha Perfect presents

Sascha Perfect returns to New Zealand from Ireland and Serbia to present her new work Chimera. It will be the first time Wellington audiences get to experience Perfect’s Body Weather inspired dance theatre. Body Weather is a movement training coming out of Japanese Butoh dance. Perfect was mentored while in Europe by Frank Van De Ven who was part of Min Tanaka’s Maijuku Performance Company in Japan.

In Chimera the audience will experience a non-rational world where bodies shape shift from human to animal. As time unfolds backwards, death enfolds life, allowing it to merge with the spiritual. Live music and vocals combine with a rich theatrical palette to create an atmospheric setting.

“Chimera is meditative dance theatre with a touch of the shamanistic. Inspired by the paintings of Martin Whittfooth.” Sascha Perfect

“Sascha Perfect weaves an intricate and delicate world where voice, live and recorded sound and movement co-exist in a natural and super-natural manner. She is a brave young voice on the scene.”
Julia Milsom – Freelance Choreographer

“This is an artist who has significant potential and a very welcome contribution for the landscape of New Zealand dance.” Toby Beham – Dance Reviews DANZ
