Wellington man in hospital after being injured by stingray

Press Release – Life Flight Trust
A man who believed he was injured by a stingray was flown to Masterton Hospital from Riversdale yesterday.

Life Flight responded with a Wellington Free Ambulance Paramedic onboard the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

On our arrival at Riversdale Beach we found a Wellington man in his 50s who was suffering from a large painful wound on his leg.  He believes that he was cut by a sting ray when he was retrieving a cray pot from the sea.

The man was being treated by local Surf Life Saving members on our arrival.

The man was then treated by our paramedic and then transported to Masterton Hospital.
