Thunder and big hail? MetService withdraws its warning
Wellington.Scoop
MetService forecast thunderstorms for Wellington this afternoon, with a southerly change. Thunder was heard in Newtown, and distantly in Brooklyn, during a period of heavy rain.
MetService also forecast the possibility of some of the thunderstorms being severe due to large hail (greater than 20mm diameter) and damaging wind gusts (110km/hr or more).
But the hail didn’t fall.
And at 5.49 tonight, the warning was withdrawn.
