    Has a Police Press Release just strongly inferred that taking a PLB makes the 5 rules of outdoor safety unnecessary??

    I’m getting a bit disturbed by frequent media quotes over the last year or two, mostly from Police and the Rescue Coordination Centre in particular, which imply that carrying an EPIRB is more important than proper preparation, following a clear plan, and avoiding doing silly or risky things in the first place.

    What happened to directing people to AdventureSmart — is it only DoC that focuses on that when they get a quote in?
