Concern about gang violence after two men stabbed during fight in Waitangirua

Police found two gang members with multiple stab wounds when they were called to an address in Niagara Street in Waitangirua early yesterday morning.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Oxnam says “The men, aged 42 and 20, were immediately taken to Wellington Hospital, but we understand that the wounds are not considered life threatening.

“Police and ESR are carrying out a scene examination which is expected to take several days.

“We have seen gang violence in this area before, I would be very concerned that things do not escalate.”

Kapiti Mana Police are appealing for anybody who was in the vicinity and may have seen what happened to contact them on (04) 238 1400.

Police were called to a Waitangirua address where two Porirua men had received a number of injuries that required hospital treatment. The injuries had occurred during a fight in a car-park on the corner of Louisa Grove and Waihemo Street sometime before 2.27 this morning. Police are seeking further information from the public.
