Winston Peters invites two people to reopening of Backbencher

News from NZ First
Winston Peters is auctioning a VIP ticket for two to the reopening of the Backbencher “Gastropub” and the unveiling of newly commissioned puppets of well-known politicians. The lucky duo will accompany the New Zealand First leader to the invitation-only event on the evening of February 26.

Mr Peters says all proceeds from the online Trade Me auction will go to the Problem Gambling Foundation.

“While most people can handle a flutter on the horses or spending a few dollars on the pokies, for others it can become a life-destroying addiction.

“It respects no boundaries and can affect the lives of doctors, business owners, factory workers, and other careers.”

Mr Peters welcomes the reopening of the Backbencher which has become something of an institution serving the parliamentary precinct.

“Its history of creating and displaying puppets of politicians adds colour and humour to the political environment. Anything that does that is worth preserving.

“We trust the winning bidder and their guest will enjoy being among the first to see the new puppets,” says Mr Peters.
