Press Release – Life Flight Trust
A Life Flight team has rescued a man who was seriously injured when he jumped from a cliff towards a water hole and missed.
Life Flight sent a Wellington Free Ambulance Paramedic onboard the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
The accident was in a stream near Reikorangi, east of Waikanae, around 6:15 pm last night.
The helicopter was able to land in a rock bed near the patient, who was being cared for on our arrival by four WFA paramedics.
“A friend said the man jumped from near the top of a hill and landed on the bank of the river instead of the deep water hole” says Dave Greenberg, Life Flight crewman. “The jump was from about 15 metres above the stream”.
The Kapiti man, in his 20s, is suffering from multiple injuries.
The man has been transported to the Wellington Hospital Emergency Department where he is currently being treated and assessed.
