Man beaten with iron bars in his Upper Hutt home; two men arrested

A 27 year old man is in Hutt Hospital after being attacked by two men in his home in Clouston Park Road, Upper Hutt today.

At around 4.30pm today, the two men entered the victim’s house. After confronting him, they beat him with two iron bars.

The offenders then got in their car and drove off but were stopped by a police patrol nearby and arrested.

The victim was transported to Hutt Hospital in a stable condition with a suspected broken arm and bruising to his body.

Two men aged 24 and 30 have been charged with assault with intent to injure and will be appearing in the Lower Hutt District Court tomorrow. More serious charges may be laid once all witnesses have been spoken to.

The Hutt Valley CIB are investigating this incident and will be speaking to witnesses tonight and tomorrow.
