International Radio Personality of the Year, Kim Hill, has been recognised by New Zealand radio industry colleagues and award judges in the 2013 New Zealand Radio Awards announced yesterday. She received the prestigious Outstanding Contribution to Broadcasting Award and won the Best Talk or Current Affairs Host category ahead of strong competition from commercial broadcasters Mike Hosking and Larry Williams.

Saturday Morning with Kim Hill also won the award for Best Weekly Series in the Spoken Programme category making a remarkable third year in a row that the popular show has taken this award. Radio New Zealand won a total of eleven awards at the 2013 New Zealand Radio Awards.

The Outstanding Contribution to Broadcasting award is the latest in a series of recent national and international accolades that have marked Kim Hill’s career. New Zealand recognition comes just a week after Kim Hill was selected as a finalist in the Best Talk Show Host category of the prestigious New York Festival Radio Awards and follows her 2012 International Radio Personality of the Year award from the Association for International Broadcasting in London.

The Radio Broadcasters Association noted that Kim Hill’s is a career fully deserving of recognition by her peers and radio broadcasting colleagues throughout New Zealand.
