Press Release – NZ Food and Grocery Council
After 50 years of ownership by Foodstuffs as a standalone business, the Bell Tea company has been sold to Wellington investor Pencarrow Private Equity. Bell Tea was established in 1898.
The NZ Food & Grocery Council welcomes the news of the sale and is delighted it will remain in local hands.
FGC Chief Executive Katherine Rich said it was great to see Bell Tea remaining wholly owned in New Zealand.
“Our member companies have all sorts of different ownership structures, but in this instance, with Bell Tea’s important part in New Zealand’s history and the fact that generations of Kiwis have grown up with it, it’s great to see this iconic company remain in Kiwi hands.”
