Wellington mayoral candidate Jack Yan has brought a new level of connectivity to the campaign trail, allowing voters to subscribe to campaign updates via text message.
By simply texting “JACK” to 825, voters are subscribed to text updates for the remainder of the campaign. The initial text message costs 20 cents but updates received by subscribers are free.
The service is being provided to Jack Yan’s campaign by Wellington company Run The Red, who specialise in providing mobile communication solutions. Mr Yan says his engagement with Run The Red is reflective of how he would operate if he was elected Mayor.
“I’ve said I want to connect with our creative enterprises, the ones with real growth potential. Run The Red is certainly one of those organisations, sending over 200 million text messages last year on the behalf of clients. I believe with the right international connections, they will be able to capitalise on the potential they display.
“This text service also delivers on my promise to be the most connected candidate. Voters can now follow my campaign across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, the internet and now text messaging.”
