Press Release – Hutt City Council
When the McKenzie Baths re-open in Petone in November we’re hoping one of the pool’s original swimmers will be there to help cut the ribbon.
Hutt City Council is searching for someone who remembers when the McKenzie Baths originally opened 80 years ago in 1933.
“We’d love to find one of the pool’s original swimmers,” says Stephen Keatley, Recreation Facilities Manager at Hutt City Council.
“As well as being able to hear stories from the pool we’d like to invite them to join the Mayor in officially re-opening the pool on Friday 15 November.”
If you think you are Petone’s oldest swimmer – or you know someone who could be – send your name, age, contact details and memories of McKenzie Baths to firstname.lastname@example.org
