Wellington Airport has achieved a new level of open-ness in its flight information today.
“Cancelled due to Wellington weather” is the explanation given for the cancellation of five provincial flights this morning.
At 10.45 this morning the airport tweeted a warning that there were weather-related disruptions.
A total of 15 flight arrivals are listed as having been cancelled this morning.
Some harbour ferry services were also cancelled this morning, and replaced by buses. No explanation was given.
Train services are back to normal, though morning commuters reported unusually high waves on the harbour.
A passenger reported: “A wave came over the train this morning. Half opened the door of the carriage and wet the people inside.”
