Wellington woman wins trip round the world to visit breweries in five countries

Press Release – Nikki Styles
Wellington’s Nikki Styles has been selected in the top six of an international competition to go on an all expenses paid beer trip around the world.

The all expenses paid trip to six breweries, five countries over four weeks received thousands of international entries.

To be chosen Nikki had to submit a photo about beer. She took a photo of herself bare (covered in a keg) in the small brewery in their garage with some of her daughter’s teddy bears and drinking some beers.

“I needed to do something to get the judges’ attention. The idea came to me after reading the girls Goldilocks and the teddy bears’ picnic.”

The mother of two says “for me this trip wouldn’t be about going and drinking lots of beer, it’s about going and learning for the world’s best craft brewers and bring that knowledge back and incorporating it into our own little brewery. I’m also keen to promote New Zealand’s growing craft beer industry.”

“It’s going to be tough to win against those big countries, I’ve got a good lead at the moment, but America are coming back quickly. I’m going to try everything I can to win this. I’m even thinking about making a walking billboard to walk down Lambton Quay at lunch time if I get desperate,” she says.

It’s a vote competition, which runs until 22 October at 1pm. People can vote once at www.worldsbestbeertrip.com

The trip is includes helping out at 4 Pines Brewing (Sydney, Australia), Feral Brewing (Perth, Australia), Good George Brewing (Hamilton, N.Z.), Meantime Brewing (London, England), The Brew, Shangri-La (Shanghai, China) and Victory Brewing (Philadelphia, U.S.A.).

Good George Brewery in Hamilton chose her photo to represent New Zealand.
