Police investigating sexual assault after concert at Trentham

News from NZ Police
Wellington Police are investigating an incident between the Trentham racecourse and a nearby carpark where a woman was allegedly sexually violated after she left a concert on Saturday night.

The person sought by police is described as a male Maori, of medium build, approximately 6 feet tall and aged between 18 and 20 years old. He has a distinctive tribal tattoo on his left upper arm, down to just below his elbow and he was wearing a bright purple and white tie dyed t-shirt.

Both the woman and the man were driven by taxi from Trentham to Khandallah where the woman was dropped home. The taxi company is not known, but the driver is described as of Indian or Pakistani descent. Police would like to speak to the taxi driver and ask him to come forward.

Police are requesting that the man comes forward and initiates contact. If anyone saw this male at the venue or knows who he is, please contact Police.

Any witnesses, or anyone with information relating to this matter, is asked to contact the Wellington CIB on 04 381 2000 or come into the Wellington Central Police Station.
