There’s lots of choice for Wellingtonians who want to celebrate Halloween next Thursday. Among them:
At the Rogue and Vagabond in Garrett Street, they’re promising: For one night only, the body and soul of Jerry Lee Lewis from his legendary 1964 appearance at the Star Club in Hamburg will be resurrected in Wellington.
The Roxy offers a themed party based on John Carpenter’s 1978 movie Halloween
At the 173-year-old Thistle Inn in Mulgrave Street, they’re planning to screen Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds, with a cocktail that was one of the director’s favourites.
Bar Medusa, also thinking of cult movies, offers Grind House A GoGo with Lady Parts and Bikini Roulette
Then there are the Day of the Dead cooking classes at Elements Cooking School.
And in Trentham, what the Community House Charitable Trust describes as a “Halloween disco for children,” with a costume parade and a hunt for body parts.
Weirdest (if not scariest) of all, the photo competition in which Wellington dogs are being asked to dress up in Halloween costumes. (Though the organisers warn that you shouldn’t let them play together when they’re wearing their costumes).
