Radio NZ is advertising for Geoff Robinson’s Morning Report replacement

Press Release – Radio New Zealand
Radio New Zealand has begun its search to replace Morning Report presenter Geoff Robinson.

The Radio New Zealand National presenter has announced his intention to retire in April next year after a broadcasting career spanning more than 40 years. An advertisement has been placed on the Radio New Zealand website seeking a new co-host to present the flagship programme.

Morning Report is New Zealand’s most popular and respected radio news programme. Every day, around a quarter of a million New Zealanders tune in to listen to three hours of comprehensive and in-depth coverage of the day’s top news stories.

“Geoff is going to be a hard act to follow” said Radio New Zealand chief executive Paul Thompson “but this is a key role and we are determined to find the very best person to take over the microphone from him”.

“The huge respect and affection New Zealanders hold Geoff in has been evident by the response to his resignation from listeners and politicians across the spectrum” Mr Thompson said.

“This is one of New Zealand journalism’s best jobs” said Radio New Zealand’s Head of News Don Rood. “We want someone who is on top of their game who will ask the hard questions our listeners want, and deserve, to have answered”.

The advertisement is specific in the qualities Radio New Zealand is seeking in the new presenter, stressing that the successful applicant will be a talented, tough and tenacious journalist.

Applications for the Morning Report position close on Friday 13 December.
