Wellington feature films won the two top prizes at the NZ Film Awards last night.
Best feature was “Shopping,” which was filmed on the Kapiti Coast and in Wellington by directors Mark Albiston and Louis Sutherland. It also won awards for the directors, the screenplay, supporting actors, cinematography, and poster.
“Shopping” premiered in the Sundance Film Festival in January and was released in New Zealand cinemas in May.
Best documentary feature was “Gardening With Soul,” directed by Jess Feast and produced by Vicki Pope, about a year in the life of 90-year-old Sister Loyola of the Island Bay Home of Compassion.
The film premiered in the NZ International Film Festival in July and its local theatrical release has been continuing since then.
