Girl suffers head injuries after falling from quad bike

A girl was injured when she fell off a quad bike in the Marlborough Sounds today.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called at 12:30pm.

The girl who had been on the back of a Quad Bike suffered head injuries.

The helicopter was able to land near the patient’s location.

She was assessed and treated by a Paramedic and then flown to the Wairau Hospital Emergency department.

A Life Flight crew member told RadioNZ that the girl, aged 10 or 11, was not wearing a helmet.

The Life Flight Trust is a charity providing air rescue and air ambulance services. It operates the Wellington based Westpac Rescue Helicopter and a nationwide air ambulance service.
