Searching helicopter finds body of missing Greytown man below bluff at Castle Rock

A helicopter searching at Castle Rock south of Castlepoint has found the body of a man below a bluff system. Police believe the death was a result of a fall.

The body was found at about 7.45am yesterday morning by Amalgamated Helicopters. The helicopter had been tasked with searching at low tide for the missing Greytown man Mirolsav Tvaroh.

Riverdale Surf Lifesaving club members helped recover the body. It has yet to be identified, but the family of the missing man have been informed. The death will be reported to the coroner.

News from NZ Police – December 25
A 34-year-old Greytown man has failed to return home from a visit to Castlepoint, a beach 40km east of Masterton. Police believe he arrived at Castlepoint yesterday afternoon and parked a blue Mazda Premacy station wagon near the church on Jetty Rd.

The missing man is Miroslav Tvaroh. He is of slim athletic build, has a slight beard, is 6ft tall, and is thought to be wearing a brown polar fleece and grey corduroy trousers.

Police and volunteers are conducting a land and sea search in the area to try and locate Mr Tvaroh.

The public are urged to call Masterton Police on (06) 3700300 with any information that may assist in finding him.
