News from NZ Police
With help from members of the public, the car stolen on Boxing Day from Alicetown in Lower Hutt has been found and returned to its owners.
They had flown to Christchurch just before Christmas with their 1-year-old son after he had been diagnosed at Hutt Hospital with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
While they were away, their car was stolen from their Alicetown home. The burglars returned the following day/night and rummaged through the house.
The vehicle appears to have been abandoned in Trinity Avenue, Epuni, with no property stolen. They keys had been left in it.
Local enquiries have not been able to identify any suspects.
Police would like to hear from anyone in the Trinity Ave area who may have any information about the vehicle, a blue Nissan Sentra Stationwagon, or persons hanging around the car.
Information can be passed to the Lower Hutt Police Station, phoned through on (04) 560 2600, or anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111. .
