Motorcyclist injured, hit by bus on overbridge near Manakau

There were more delays on State Highway One near Manakau this afternoon after a bus hit a motorcyclist on an overbridge at about 4.20pm.

Emergency Services were called to the crash, which was near Whakahoro Road.

The motorcyclist received moderate injuries to his lower back and lacerations to his body. There are no reports of anyone on the bus being injured.

The bus is a commercial bus but it is unknown which direction it was travelling or how many passengers are on board.

The overbridge crosses the main trunk railway line.

Further north, there were delays on State Highway One near Taupo this morning after a vehicle and truck collided at about 9.30am approximately two kilometres north of Oranui Road.

A southbound vehicle towing a trailer flipped onto its side after clipping a northbound truck on a moderate bend. The driver of the vehicle was unharmed.

His woman passenger was airlifted to Rotorua Hospital by rescue helicopter. She was cleared of any serious injury and discharged later in the day.

The driver of the truck was also unharmed.

SH1 was limited to one lane and there were moderate delays for north and southbound traffic.
