Anika Moa was the star attraction at the annual Out in the Square event in Civic Square today. The fair was entertained by performers who joined together to celebrate the passing of the Marriage Equality Bill and the first summer of queer weddings.
This was the view of Anika Moa’s performance from the Green Party’s stall.
VIPs were among the crowd in Civic Square, which was filled with stalls and kiosks. There were also games and a raffle offering over $3000 worth of prizes.
In addition to the fair a host of parties are taking place over the weekend. The annual Pool Party will be held at the Thorndon Summer Pool on Murphy St, starting at 7PM. The official After Party, with a Wild Jungle theme, will be held on Sunday at Ivy Bar in James Smith’s Basement on Cuba Street and will feature three zones of Jungle madness. Tickets are available at Cosmic Corner,Dash.co.nz or at the door.
“It is really great to see the fair coming together. Everyone in the Committee have been working hard to deliver the best Out in the Square yet and we are all thrilled that the day is finally here. It is great to be able to celebrate the Marriage Equality Bill in such an amazing way” said Greig Wilson, Co-Chair of the Out in the Square Committee.
All the profits from the raffle, the Pool Party and the Wild Jungle Party will go towards organising next year’s Out in the Square Fair and the future of Out in the Square.
