Twelve streets in Karori have had their water supply cut this afternoon for the second day in a row. It’s the same cause as yesterday – another broken water main.
The city council apologised this afternoon, after advisint about 3.30 that the water supply had been cut again. It blamed old pipes which need to be replaced, and said water should be restored by about 7pm.
News from WCC
The section of main that has burst in Croydon Street is cement piping that dates from the 1950s – and is programmed for replacement in the next two years.
The City Council’s Chief Asset Officer, Anthony Wilson, is apologising for the disruptions. He says he will instruct staff from the City Council and Capacity Water Services, after a more substantial repair to the pipe has been made this afternoon, to investigate possible causes of the bursts and whether the replacement work can be brought forward.
Streets affected by the outage today are, like yesterday, Croydon Street, Donald Street and Donald Cres, Allington Road. Pine Tce, Grenfell Drive, Tiro Street, Wendouree Way, Duthie Street, Messines Road, Versailles Road and Herman Street.
