Two hundred young drummers, led by Strike, were joined by hundreds of singers from community choirs with top band Kora, for a performance of more than an hour.

Percussion instruments included cymbals, free-standing drums, drums attached to scaffolding, snare drums and rattles.

As well as the massed drumming, music included fun, soul and r&b.

The New Zealand Festival continues till 16 March.
