Man trapped in crushed cab after front-end loader overturns

A man was trapped under the cab of a front-end loader when it overturned in Upper Hutt this morning.

At 10:15am this morning, Emergency Services were called to a farm property on Cannon Point Road in Upper Hutt.

A 73 year old had been operating the front-end loader that was moving some gravel. When it overturned, the cab was crushed, trapping the man under it.

It is unknown how long he was trapped before Emergency Services were advised.

The Fire Service worked to lift the loader so that the man could be rescued. He was conscious and talking to Ambulance staff.

WorkSafe NZ have been advised and will be carrying out their own investigation into the cause of the accident.

The male is the owner of the property where the loader was operating.
