New Plymouth woman, hit by 4WD, dies in Wellington Hospital

A 41-year-old woman who was struck by a 4WD vehicle on Brougham Street in New Plymouth on Tuesday has died in Wellington Hospital.

Carmen Rogers of New Plymouth died overnight in the presence of her family.

The Serious Crash Unit is continuing to investigate and Police still want to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash.

“We want to speak to anyone who saw the crash or the 4WD travelling in the vicinity of Brougham and Powderham Streets. These streets are normally very busy around 4 to 5pm and I encourage anyone that saw the crash or has any information to contact Police,” says Constable Lee Rose of the New Plymouth Traffic Group.

A 31-year-old man is facing charges and will appear in the New Plymouth District Court.

A New Plymouth woman is in critical condition in Wellington Hospital after she was struck by a 4WD yesterday afternoon. New Plymouth Police are appealing for witnesses after the 41-year-old woman was struck by a 4WD on Brougham Street.

At approximately 4:45pm a dark coloured 4WD Land Cruiser with a bull bar on the front has driven up Brougham Street. Police believe the woman was exiting her vehicle when she was struck by the 4WD.

“We want to speak to anyone who saw the crash or the 4WD travelling in the vicinity of Brougham and Powderham Streets. These streets are normally very busy at this time of the day and I encourage anyone that saw the crash or has any information to contact Police,” says Constable Lee Rose of the New Plymouth Traffic Group.

The Serious Crash Unit is continuing to investigate the crash.
