Police investigate death of woman in Bulls house – not suspicious

A post mortem has been carried out this morning on a woman found dead yesterday at a residential property in Bulls. The woman has been identified as Michele Mary Curry aged 50 of Palmerston North.

Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Sheridan says: “As a result of the scene examination and the post mortem we have established that the woman’s death is not suspicious.”

“We will continue to gather information from the scene and work closely with her family to present our findings to the Coroner.”

The scene examination is expected to conclude this afternoon. As the matter has been referred to the Coroner Police has no further comment to make.

Manawatu Police are investigating the death of a middle-aged woman at Bulls. At this stage it is being treated as unexplained.

The woman was discovered at approximately mid-morning at a residential property by a family member who immediately notified emergency services.

Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Sheridan says: “Our priorities are to determine if there are any suspicious circumstances around the woman’s death and speak to and support her family.”

Police supported by ESR staff are currently conducting a scene examination at the property and officers are in the process of speaking to those close to the woman.

“A post-mortem will be undertaken and at this stage we are keeping an open mind and treating the woman’s death as unexplained,” says Detective Senior Sergeant Sheridan.

No further information about the deceased will be released until her next of kin has been notified and she has been formally identified.
