50 calls to police after TV crime show appeal on sexual assault

News from NZ Police
There were almost 50 calls from the public after the TV crime show Police Ten-7 last night appealed for help to identify a man who sexually assaulted a woman early on Sunday morning in the Palmerston North CBD.

Detective Johnny Oram who is leading the investigation says: “The information from these calls has been invaluable.”

The calls have generated a number of lines of inquiry which officers are pursuing.

“Police are continuing to receive calls and this shows that the public are keen to help us with our inquiries. We still want to hear from anyone who may have any information,” says Detective Oram.

The man is described as Caucasian, early 20s, skinny build, and has shoulder length dark hair that was dirty and unkempt.

If anyone knows the identity of the man or has any other information please contact Detective Oram on (06) 351 3877. Alternatively information can be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
