Police arrest man found duckshooting in Pauatahanui wildlife reserve

News from NZ Police
A man was arrested last night by Porirua police when they found him duck shooting in a wildlife research near a residential area.

Firearms charges are being considered against the man who was arrested after police were called to the Pauatahanui Inlet when shots were heard.

Hunters are reminded to hunt only in areas where hunting is permitted, abide by the conditions of their firearms licences and make safety their first priority.

“It is crucial that hunters follow the law and safety rules” says Senior Sergeant Simon King of the Wellington Police. “Police will treat any breaches extremely seriously.”
