Record 1800 submissions to Hutt annual plan; fantastic, says mayor

Press Release – Hutt City Council
Written submissions to Hutt City Council’s Draft Annual Plan topped 1800 with a record number of people set to speak to their submission during two days of hearings, starting tomorrow.

Lower Hutt Mayor Ray Wallace says the response to the plan has been “fantastic” and is a reminder how “passionately people feel about their community and the future of our city”.

“With more than 30 projects included in this year’s plan the focus is firmly on rejuvenation and providing a vision for this city we can all be proud of. It is important though we continue our history of careful and considered spending by striking a balance between vibrancy and fiscal responsibility.

“I’m looking forward to spending the next two days listening to what people think of the direction we’ve proposed which, together with the written submissions received, will put us in a great position as we head into the decision making stage of the Annual Plan process next month.

Oral submissions will be heard by Council on Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 May at the Petone Workingmen’s Club, 47 Udy Street, Petone from 9.30am each day.

Council will meet again on 11 June to discuss all projects in the Draft Annual Plan.
